All work and no play……

Monday, February 28th, 2011

After the demise of the old water tower (see January diary) the site for the new tower has since been cleared and work is well on the way for the new modern up to date water tower!  Unfortunately, all the lads have been so hard at work that nobody has had the time to take any photos!

But, the site manager did just have time to take one or two this morning so you can see how work is progressing!

At least the sun's come out for a while! Eh, Hamish!

The land has had to be cleared so the footings can be laid as soon as possible.  Luckily the weather has taken a turn for the better lately so things have come one quite quickly.

The lads were so inspired by their visit to the South Tynesdale Railway last summer that they have requested  especially that the new water tower will be based on that design.

You too, can now see how the water tower is being designed and built by going to the ‘How we did it’ page on this website!  This is going to be a new feature on the website this year, you can share in some of the MPLR’s secrets!

Well, they have worked so hard it finally came to the point of being able to pour in the concrete for the new base and we just happened to catch the moment.

It's going to take a lot of this to fill that hole!

Don’t forget now to have a look at the “How we did it’ page, you never know there might be a sneak preview of the water towers progress!
