“…deep and crisp and even…”

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas (well day after anyway) Moreton Pit Station woke up to a rather snowy scene!

The snow was the deepest it has been for many a year and had caused quite a problem for the staff.

The problem being that birdwatchers had started arriving as there was rumour that the ‘Guffinhawk’ had been seen over the Reserve and twitchers were keen to get a glimpse!  Only problem was there was too much snow on the line!

Something had to be done and so Jessie was sent out with Hamish and Terry to see if they could start to clear the line!

It took a lot of hard graft by the PW staff and a well earned cuppa and warm-up was required.

After a delayed start, Taffi was able to set off for Bill Oddie Hide and the birdwatchers were finally on their way in hopes of seeing the Guffinhawk!

And Sooty the cat had still not been let into the warm!

Hold the front page … because the Moreton Pit Light Railway are on it!  The staff of the MPLR were thrilled to read all about themselves in this New Year’s copy of the ‘Garden Rail’ magazine.  Published just before Christmas it is really the January 2009 copy (strange isn’t it how magazines come out a month before they are supposed to be read in?!)  Never mind because we have finally made it into print!

It has a some of the loveliest pictures of the MPLR and  tells the story of the making of the railway, a good read all round.
