‘Queen’ , driver Archie and Fireman Alf were just coming out of Chafford Gorge, when they saw this amazing sight!  A giant sunflower had grown up along side the track and was towering above the fence.  Fortunately, Bill Goodie the reserve manager was doing his rounds and had his camera handy to take a snap.

What a lovely end to a perfect Autumn day.  The MPLR staff are very proud of the reserve’s flora and fauna!

June bursts in with an Open Day for the Model Railway!

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

It was on a fine early summers day in June that saw the first Open Day of the Moreton Model Railway Club, and what a lovely day it turned out to be!  Even Rooty the Piper came down to officially start the festivities.

Of course, the day was a great hit with the children, big and small, who were waiting to have a chance to ‘have a go’ on the trains!  One mum decided that this was too nice a day to waste and took the chance to top up her tan.

The visiting locos came in all types and sizes from very big…..

Of course, with all the extra activity this was causing on the MPLR, the Pits Productions car was soon seen arriving at the station to do a spot of filming of the action.  There was some talk of a film about a day in the life of the MPLR but you can never tell….

The station’s never been so busy and a gridlock soon developed!

Luckily, it was soon sorted out and everyone went home happy and satisfied with a lovely day out on the MPLR.  Many thanks to the wonderful catering crew who managed to make and serve 40 cream scones, 5 assorted homemade cakes and an enormous bread pudding, got through 80 tea bags, a jar of coffee and 3 litres of milk!
