MNGR and other trains.

The staff of the MPLR were invited to an ‘open day’ at another NG railway.  The MNGR is a wonderful example of a mature, well planned and well maintained 16mm railway.  Indeed it is one of the railways that have inspired the staff of the MPLR.  ‘Arthur-James’ and a couple of the new passenger coaches were transported by road up to Norfolk and a very happy couple of hours was spent assisting with the large passenger numbers on this very hot weekend.

One of the delights of visiting other railways is the chance of seeing unusual locos.  This is, I think, a Mamod based geared loco.  Sadly the staff coach left before I had a chance to see it run.

A strength of the MNGR is its buildings.  The owners of the railway have invested a small fortune in recreating buildings and lineside details that give the railway real atmosphere.  Terrific stuff!

On the way home the staff bus passed Bressingham, and this being a steam day, we just had to stop and take a peek.  Wonderful, we even got to ride on the footplate of a mainline steam loco!

A spot of birdwatching followed on the Breckland heath and chicken and chip supper on the way home.  What better way to spend a Sunday?  Thanks to the staff of the MNGR for the invitation and warm welcome.  Much appreciated.
